About The Band

1999
Justin Holder is an award-winning drummer who got his start hitting pots and pans in his mom's kitchen at 8 months old. Before starting 1999, once a teenager, Holder was entrenched in the Christian music scene playing on stage with Dove Award winners including Paul Baloche ("Above All" and "Open the Eyes of my Heart"), Lenny Leblanc (Billboard's #3 "Falling"), and Brian Doerkesen ("Come Now is the Time to Worship"). Recognized as one of the most versatile and musically-gifted drummers, Justin soon began sharing stages with Rock 'n Roll Hall of Famer Donna Jean Godchaux, Grammy Award-Winner Phill Driscoll, Muscle Shoals rhythm section member David Hood and a number of other industry greats. Holder has opened for Gavin Degraw, He is Legend and Delirious to name a few. In 2009, Justin became committed to the award-winning band SWASO and continues to push himself musically. He's currently touring nationally with the ultimate Prince Tribute band "1999" and has never before had so much fun. Holder has a one-year-old daughter, Lily, who is the light of his life.

Jamie McFarlane grew up "on the road" and learned the music industry through his father, Will McFarlane, who toured throughout the 1970s as Bonnie Rait's lead guitarist. Always traveling with his father, Jamie learned music -- chord progressions, style, rhythm, melody, musicality and performance. After years of mentoring by industry greats including Jackson Browne and the Pointer Sisters Jamie moved to North Carolina to forge his own path forward. He soon became a heavily sought-after bassist known for his extraordinary talent and groove. He was recruited into the original rock band SWASO in 2009 and now tours nationally paying tribute to one of his all-time favorite artists, Prince. Jamie calls Chapel Hill his home along with his wife and three kids.

Hugh Swaso was trained in classical piano and viola. He grew up with a disciplined practice schedule and earned entrance into Wake Forest University on a viola scholarship. Hugh transferred to the North Carolina School of the Arts where he fell in love with the guitar as well as rock 'n roll. He became involved with a number of bands in college including SONS and Jump Little Children, experimenting with style and writing everything from heavy metal to pop love songs. Having gained acclaim as a "guitar god," "guitar hero" and the "ultimate showman," Hugh formed the band SWASO in 2009 and recruited what he had heard was the "tightest rhythm section in North Carolina" to join him. To please his growing fan base and to pay tribute to an artist whom he has an immeasurable amount of respect for, Hugh agreed to form a Prince Tribute band and bring the music of Prince to fans across the nation. Hugh has a five-year-old daughter, Ana, who keeps him grounded and says she is unimpressed with her "rock star" of a Daddy.
