About David Humphreys Orchestra, The:
David Humphreys, The David Humphreys Orchestra is always on the move, from California to Florida, and even further south to the Caribbean and across the ocean to Italy. Their range of music is matched only by the range of locations they’ve played! Since 1989, DHO has traveled extensively to perform for weddings, debutante and charity balls, fundraisers, anniversary parties, corporate events, and cocktail parties. The David Humphreys Orchestra has often been described as a party looking for a place to happen! Celebrating 15 years under the leadership of musical director David Humphreys, the fully self-contained orchestra includes drums, piano, bass, tuba, acoustic and electric guitar, trumpet, saxophone, violin or string quartet, and both male and female vocalists.
The David Humphreys Orchestra are the kind that take "Party Music" far from its usual predictable, potted-palm languor, and inject it with a fresh, vigorous musicianship that even the "name" bands seem to have forgotten. From Gershwin and Cole Porter, through Big Band, from the Sixties to the Nineties, the music is as rich as yesterday, as bright as tomorrow. Add to this the use of creative set design and costume (when appropriate), and you'll find David Humphreys and his orchestra to be the obvious choice for any society events.
"We do the work of two bands," David explains. "Cocktail music. Dinner music. After dinner dancing. We do it all, with up to six hours of continuous music—No breaks!"
